Measuring Range
The range between the smallest and largest measurements that a load cell can measure is called the measuring range. The difference between the upper and lower limits of the load cell’s measuring range is referred to simply as the range.

Static Characteristics of Load Cells
The static characteristics of a load cell refer to the condition where the measured value does not change over time, or the rate of change is significantly slower than the intrinsic minimum motion of the sensor. In this case, the output of the load cell is a function of the input value.
Static Calibration of Load Cells
The static characteristics of a load cell are determined through a process known as static calibration. Static calibration involves repeated measurements of a load cell under specific standard conditions, utilizing the appropriate calibration equipment.

Static Sensitivity of Load Cells
The static sensitivity of a load cell is defined as the amount of change in the output per unit change in the input. At a measurement point, static sensitivity corresponds to the slope of the static characteristic curve. For linear load cells, static sensitivity is constant, while for nonlinear load cells, it varies. Static sensitivity is a fundamental index for evaluating the performance of load cells and can be selected based on the measuring range and other factors. Particularly important is the choice of the sensitive element, as it plays a crucial supporting role in the sensor’s performance. Typically, the sensitivity of the sensitive element not only affects measured performance but is also influenced by various external factors. Therefore, when selecting the structure and parameters of sensitive components, it is desirable for the output sensitivity to be high while minimizing the effects of external interference.
